Depending on the training organization, there can be up to five (5) certification ranks in Six Sigma: White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, and Master Black Belt. Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Available Associate Level Certifications
LSSYB
Population
The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification is for anyone interested in learning more about process improvements and quality control. These certifications are designed for individuals operating at the team member level.
Prerequisites
This certification has no prerequisites.
Training Length

Exam preparation training and study for this certification is approximately two (2) hours.

Eligible PDUs: 10

Exam Requirements

Our CSSC and VMEdu exams are 40-Multiple Choice Questions administered online in an open book exam format. Candidates have 60-minutes to complete the exam and require a 75% to pass.

The IASSC exam is 60-Multiple Choice Questions administers online in a proctored exam format.  Candidates have 120-minutes to complete the exam and score a 70% or greater to pass.

Exam Pass Rate: 99% (CSSC/VMEdu) (based on first exam attempts).

 

Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

LSSGB

Population
The Professional level certification is for individuals who want to gain a comprehensive understanding of process improvement techniques and lead small teams in process improvement projects and kaizen. These certifications are designed for individuals operating at the team leader level.
Prerequisites
This certification has no prerequisites.
Training Length

Exam preparation training and study for this certification is approximately ten (10) hours.

Eligible PDUs: 25

Exam Requirements

These exams are 100-Multiple Choice Questions administered online in an proctored exam format. Candidates have 120-minutes (CSSC/VMEdu) or 180-minutes (IASSC) to complete the exam and require a 70% to pass.

Exam Pass Rate: 93% (CSSC/VMEdu) (based on first exam attempts).

Recertification: Recertification is required every three years.

 

Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Available Specialist Level Certifications

LSSBB 

Population
The Black Belt level certifications are tailored to professionals working to gain practical and theoretical expertise in six sigma.  They tend to lead large scale process improvement projects and/or multiple small project teams. These certifications are designed for individuals operating at the Company leadership level.
Prerequisites
This certification has no prerequisites.
Training Length

Exam preparation training and study for this certification is approximately twenty (20) hours.

Eligible PDUs: 55

Exam Requirements

These exams are 140-Multiple Choice Questions administered online in an proctored exam format. Candidates have 180-minutes or 240-minutes (IASSC) to complete the exam and require a 70% to pass.

Exam Pass Rate: 93% (CSSC/VMEdu) (based on first exam attempts).

 

Recertification:  Recertification is once every three years.  

 

Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt

Population
Expert certifications are tailored to professionals working to gain practical and theoretical expertise in lean six sigma. These certifications are designed for individuals operating at the Executive leadership level.
Prerequisites
Candidates must posses a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB)
Training Length
Exam preparation coaching is thirty (30) hours with approximately seventy (70) hours of project work and self study.
Exam Requirements
  • Completion of a LSSMBB Project
  • Portfolio Review of at least three (3) projects [these can be simulated or real; Project Altitude provides each applicant with four (4) simulated projects in the case this requirement is not yet met]
  • 150-Question Multiple Choice/True-False open book Exam in 240 minutes; applicant must score an 70%. Applicant is permitted 3-attempts]
  • 10-Question Oral Exam 
  • Develop and Instruct one (1) unit of Lean Six Sigma curriculum 
  • Mentor two (2) Black Belts to project completion [Project Altitude will provide the Black Belt Applicants].  This requirement can be waived.

Exam Pass Rate: Project Altitude works with applicants until they successfully navigate the certification.

Recertification: Recertification is required once every three (3) years.

 

Certification Exam Instructions - If you have enrolled in a full course, skip to step 4.

  • Step 1. Once you have purchased a  - you will be able to download instructions on how to register for a proctored exam after you have been granted access to your new course room. 
  • Step 2. You will receive an email within 24-hours granting you access to a new Couse room for the course exam you have purchased. 
  • Step 3. Use the instructions you received from step 1 to register and sit for your proctored exam.
  • Step 4. Once in your course room, select "my exam"  from the left hand panel.
  • Step 5. Select the exam that you wish to take by selecting "Schedule" or "Take Exam." Verify your information is correct and select continue.
  • Step 6. Select the date and time you wish to sit for your proctored exam and select "continue"
  • Step 7. Verify the date and time and select "confirm."

Recertification Instructions

  • Step 1. Once it is time to recertify, go to the recertification page.
  • Step 2. Select and purchase the recertification course and exam you need to recertify.
  • Step 4. Once in your course room, you may complete the course.
  • Step 4. Once the course is completed, select "my exam"  from the left hand panel.
  • Step 5. Select the exam that you wish to take by selecting "Schedule" or "Take Exam." Verify your information is correct and select continue.
  • Step 6. Select the date and time you wish to sit for your proctored exam and select "continue"
  • Step 7. Verify the date and time and select "confirm."
