How to Use Your CA/COOL Benefits

Military service members can earn their certification no matter where they are stationed globally because our training courses and certification exams can all be conducted online. Follow the steps below for your service branch to have your program at Project Altitude Fully Funded. Scroll down to your respective branch.

US ARMY INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Request an invoice here for the certification course/exam you would like to take or complete the form below, You will need this at a later step. If you’re selecting RBLP, be sure to complete the application

Step 2: Within 24-hours you will receive a by name invoice/quote from Project Altitude.  You will use this in your CA/COOL application.

Step 3: Go to  ArmyIgnited.com and follow the instructions below to apply:

  1. Log into ArmyIgnitED.com: https://armyignited.com/app/
  2. After logging in, click on “Add Credential Path”
  3. Select “Other”
  4. Select “New Credential”
  5. Enter in the Search Box the credential you are looking for (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Resilience-Building Leader Professional, ITIL, Risk Management Professional).
  6. Click Select Credential
  7. Check the three boxes and “I understand and am prepared to fulfill the above requirements”
  8. For additional information, you can enter “I would like to use Project Altitude as the vendor.” This is not required.
  9. Click Continue with CA Request
  10. Select the Credential you recently added.
  11. Search the list of vendors for Project Altitude, LLC
  12. Upload the Invoice/quote Project Altitude emailed you.
  13. Enter Start Date, End Date and click “Submit”

**Please note, your course start date must be at least 30 days after your Army Credentialing Assistance Request has been submitted.

Step 4: Army Credentialing Assistance Program Office reviews your application and will approve it one (1) day before the start date and the soldier will receive a welcome email inviting them to log into their new Learning Management System account and begin their course.

US AIRFORCE INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Log in to your AFVEC account and find the AF COOL Homepage link on the left of the screen. Navigate to the AF COOL Homepage.

Step 2: Once there, select the “Explore Credentials” box and your AFSC specific credentials that you are eligible for will be listed.

Step 3: Next, type the credential you are looking for (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Resilience-Building Leader Professional, ITIL, Risk Management Professional).on the “Credential Name” line. 

Step 4: Select the desired credential and create your education goal by clicking on the icon that is listed on the top right of the goal you are seeking.

Step 5: Once you have selected the credential of your choosing, an email will be sent to your supervisor to validate your eligibility criteria for the selected credential. 

Step 6: Request an invoice here for the certification course/exam you would like to take or complete the form below, You will need this at a later step. If you’re selecting RBLP, be sure to complete the application

Step 7: Within 24-hours you will receive a by name invoice from Project Altitude.  You will use this in your CA/COOL application.

Step 8: Ensure you upload the invoice we have provided you. Make sure there are two items on the invoice, the tuition (books and materials) and the testing fee (test fee).

Step 9: In your AFVEC account, go to the bottom box on the right side of the home screen and click “Start a Funding Request”. With the invoice provided please fill out TWO FUNDING REQUESTS:

  1. Study Material (Prep Course) = Cost for Prep Course; Project Altitude (Base Name)
  2. Exam = Exam fee; Project Altitude is the school/trainer (Base Name) NOTE: If you are testing outside of the AFVEC system’s 120-day window, continue to fill out the request, then email the AF COOL CPO with the anticipated testing date at the information listed below; a counseling note will be placed in your Education File to verify that you have contacted the CPO.

Once you complete the funding request, an email will be sent to your supervisor who will review the request and approve or disapprove it. You will be notified via email once this action is completed.

US NAVY INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT! To receive the Sea Services Scholarship to fund your RBLP training ensure you select Project Altitude as your Authorized Training Partner (ATP). NAVY COOL does not cover the cost of training, only exams.

Step 1: Make sure you meet the eligibility requirement to participate in NAVY COOL.

Step 2: Complete the Voucher and Apply: Now you need to make sure you meet the Navy’s voucher eligibility requirements. The eligibility requirements for a credential are detailed in two places on COOL: (1) read about the Navy’s Voucher Eligibility Requirements (go to linked page, open "Checking your Eligibility"), and (2) in the Main Menu at the top right of any page: click or tap the Menu icon, and then under Credentialing Steps, click or tap Step 2 “Complete Voucher and Apply” to complete the Voucher Eligibility Tool.

Step 3: It is important to note that Navy COOL is not a credentialing organization—you do not sign up for or take exams from Navy COOL. Once you have an approved exam voucher, you are responsible for contacting a credential exam test center (Resilience-Building Leader Professional) to schedule the exam. You must schedule and take your exam within 60 days of issue of the Navy-funded voucher or the voucher expires (unless specifically coordinated with the Navy's Credentials Program Office).

To find the information page for a credential on the the NAVY COOL Page:

  1. Click on Menu in the upper right corner
  2. Click on Full Credential Search at the bottom of the menu section
  3. Type the credential name into the Search box on the right above the credential list
  4. Click on the credential name in the results to go to the credential information page
  5. On the credential information page, click on the Exam section (when available)
  6. Click on the Testing Info tab (when available)

For credentials that use a test vendor, please visit the test vendor websites for important messages.

Step 4: When you’ve completed your credential exam, taken a test, or met recertification requirements, you must provide the results to the following groups, regardless of whether you passed or failed!

These groups are:

  • The Navy's Credentials Program Office: email 1) Pass/Fail and 2) Your Score (if relevant) to: navycool@navy.mil
  • Your Supervisor
  • Your Local Approving Official

When you successfully earn a certification or license, make sure to get credit for your accomplishment by getting the credential included on your Joint Service Transcript (JST).

US MARINE CORP INSTRUCTIONS

US COAST GUARD INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT! To receive the Sea Services Scholarship to fund your RBLP training ensure you select Project Altitude as your Authorized Training Partner (ATP). US COAST GUARD COOL does not cover the cost of training, only exams.

Step 1: Use COOL’s Go to: Rating or Navigator features to see how your Coast Guard training and experience match up with civilian credentials. Learn about selected credential requirements and contact the credentialing agency to validate that you meet their eligibility criteria. Meet with your Education Services Officer (ESO) during this first step.

Step 2: Apply for credentialing assistance (CA) via the MyCG Ed Portal. Applications for CA must be submitted 14 calendar days prior to exam date or incurring any fees.

Step 3: Upon receipt of CA authorization from ETQC, proceed to pay for approved credentialing fees. Once payment is made, upload a copy of the receipt, along with an electronically endorsed Request for Miscellaneous Reimbursement (OF-1164) to MyCG Ed Portal within 30 calendar days of payment.

It is important to note that Coast Guard COOL is not a credentialing organization—you do not sign up for or take exams from Coast Guard COOL. Once you have a CA Authorization you are responsible for contacting a credential exam test center (Resilience-Building Leader Professional) to schedule the exam.

You can find test vendor information for a specific credential, where available, here on COOL on a credential's information page. Note that some credentialing agencies do not use test vendors and may not have information in this tab. To find the information page for a credential:

  1. Click on Menu in the upper right corner

  3. Type the credential name into the Search box on the right above the credential list
  4. Click on the credential name in the results to go to the credential information page

Step 4: Upon CA authorization approval and payment of fees, complete the credentialing requirements (e.g. take exam, submit application package, etc.) through the credentialing agency. Provide ETQC with any credentialing exam results within 90 calendar days of CA authorization.

Step 5: Upload a legible copy of your credential to the MyCG Ed Portal within 30 calendar days of attainment.
